Morgan Jumping
Dixie & Kelly on Cross Country Course

SHEPHERD'S DIXIE FRY (011436) Born May 30, 1960

Shepherd's Dixie Fry was not only our first Morgan, she became  a Foundation Mare in our breeding operation, through her last born filly Three Forks Firefly.  When we purchased her at the ripe age of 20, she had been used as a competition Western horse.  She became an excellent Pony Club jumper and cross-country competitor, winning many jump-offs in jumping competitions with her quick turns, and taught Kelly who had just graduated from her pony the excitement and fun involved in Cross Country competition.  Dixie even won a first place for Kelly in dressage at a Pony Club Rally at the age of 23, and her pulse & respiration after a cross country course proved a surprise for others with younger horses!  No wonder she sold us on Morgans.  Her pedigree has Jubilee King, Penrod, Red Oak, Mansfield, Flyhawk and Linsley to name the more noteable sires, and as Great,  and Great-Great Grandparents...so not so far removed!!

LEANDER'S GRAND PRIX

On loan from Leander Morgans, "Scoot" is a great Stallion to have around...both because of how easy he is to handle, and because of his handsome get.  Seen here he is working as he loves to, with Tom Nobles (excellent horseman, trainer, and fellow breeder)  His sire is Ramuls Justin, with Beckridge Como (Montey Vermont) and Sanson Field notable in his pedigree.  His dam Leander's Windsong was sired by Leander's Ace, a great stallion we are proud to have known and used extensively in our breeding program.  Leander's Grand Prix get are tall, sensible horses with very elegant movement.  He has that special ability to cross well with and improve on all mares foals.

LEANDER'S SERENA

This special black mare was "especially special" to Kelly.  Her constant companion while growing up, Serena took Kelly from back yard fun, to mountain trail rides, and brought her many ribbons in the show ring,  from jumping, Western and English pleasure, to their specialty Dressage.  Competing on the A-circuit, competing mainly against warm-bloods, this 16-hand mare did the Morgan breed proud!  But ask Kelly, and the greatest thing she did was just "be the best horse in the world, a friend through her teen years, with a nicker that said she understood "everything".  While she was busy "showing off", her full sister Leander's Taffy we utilized fully in our breeding program to carry on her great genes.  Leader's Taffy (Sheena) is still with us at the grand age of 34...and while she was still used as a trail horse at 30, Sheena is now enjoying her retirement flirting with the young colts!
